"Narratives," a series of abstract paintings by artist Jeremiah Ray, showcase his journey during and after his fight against cancer. These self-portraits are an ongoing series. The pen and ink sketches were initially composed during long hours at the cancer treatment clinic and lengthy inpatient stays. They became increasingly critical to understanding his emotional and psychological states during this time of his life. They have continued to evolve post-treatment. The foundation element of pen and ink will always be the base and starting point; however, not only has he been using color to heighten emotions, but the digital layer has become increasingly important.
